Enjoy chic and laid-back luxury in glamourous Sotogrande.
This is not a ‘town’ in the strictest sense of the word, but is actually a privately owned, and rather exclusive residential complex. The Sotogrande estate is the destination of choice for discerning guests looking for an exclusive and private setting with an exceptional standard of accommodation.
Villa Karima is located in this highly exclusive estate, still on the eastern Costa del Sol yet enjoying the climate and lifestyle of Cadiz province. Life here is low-key but high-quality, with luxury beach clubs and a yachting marina, refreshingly few commercial developments and unspoiled virgin beaches lined with sand dunes where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean.
Here in Sotogrande as with the rest of the Costa del Sol, while it may be at its liveliest during the summer months Sotogrande’s very much a year-round destination. The weather is superb, with an average of +300 days of sunshine per year and winter temperatures that rarely drop much below the high teens or early twenties celsius. Perfect for hosting the world’s best Golf and Equestrian sports which take place each year.
Villa Karima is ideally situated in the lower part of Sotogrande, close to the marina, Trocadero beach club and with easy access to world class La Reserva Golf and Valderrama Golf. Santa Maria Polo Club is just around the corner, where the summer months let you rub shoulders with the British Royalty and the world’s horse-loving elite at the polo.
For golfers there are no less than five different courses to choose from. La Cañada and La Almenara are both excellent and suitable for high to mid-handicappers, while La Reserva, the Real Club de Golf and world-famous championship course, Valderrama, are really best left for only the most accomplished golfers.
For the non-golfers in your group there is plenty to do, the luxury Elysium spa is a short drive away from your villa, hire a yacht for a days sailing, visit local towns and villages, relax at La Reserva Resort or watch polo at the world-famous Santa Maria Polo Club which is just a few minutes’ walk away from Villa Karima.
Dining out can take place in the restaurants of the marina, or in the village centres of Pueblo Nuevo and Guadiaro. Or you might head to one of the chiringuitos along the beaches at either side of Sotogrande for a taste of fresh fish and a cool glass of Tinto del Verano.
Only half an hour away you can visit Gibraltar with British shopping, fascinating history and curious inhabitants of the rock.
For a more traditional Spanish vibe head inland a short distance to explore the delightful white village of the region of Jimena de la Frontera or the castle fortress town of Castellar de la Frontera which punctuate the awe-inspiring walking route along Mr Henderson’s Railway to Ronda.
For day trips a little further afield there is Marbella & Estepona, & beachlife at Tarifa & Costa de la Luz are less than an hour away. While Tangier in northern Morocco is a mere 45-minute ferry away – book one of our guides to show you the best of it with a door-to-door service.
Sotogrande is just 30 minutes from Gibraltar & around 1 hour from Malaga airport.
