Hacienda Vistaverde is a noble, 5-bedroom 'hacienda'-style luxury villa in a fine setting near Sotogrande set against San Roque golf course and distant mountains.
Regal formal gardens overlook the golf greens, while the large pool is tucked away in front of the villa with all-day sunshine. It's packed with character with lovely views around every corner, Andaluz patios and water fountains to stay cool in summer.
Really, though, for golfers the look and feel of the place, and the high comfort factor, is going to pale by comparison with one thing: that location.
Not only do the villa’s gardens drop down to the fairways of the San Roque Golf Club, but there are also various other top-class courses nearby: La Reserva, Real Club de Sotogrande, La Alcaidesa, La Cañada and the sensational Valderrama are all within 10-15 minutes’ drive. It’s golf heaven, in other words.

Grand & Traditional in Feel but Packed with Modern Facilities
The entrance to Hacienda Vistaverde is an exercise in how to set a scene.
You cross a courtyard with a babbling fountain at its heart, before stepping through a handsome, reclaimed 19th-century wooden door into a vast entrance hall with a cavernous wooden-beamed ceiling. So far, so palatial.
Stairs wind their way up and along a grand walkway to the five bedrooms – each of which has en-suite bathrooms and direct access onto the gardens or fine views.
Back downstairs there’s a comfortable sitting room that’s a lavish mix of golds, silvers and muted Farrow & Ball taupes and greys and which opens out onto a terrace. Adjoining this is a striking kitchen-dining room with direct access to the pool and a shady pergola-covered dining area.
The grandeur and character is all a bit of a clever trick, though. Yes, this is a luxury villa that’s grand in proportions and traditional in style with plenty of fine aesthetic notes.
But it’s in style only: it’s also completely newly built and clean-edged with sleek, modern interiors packed with luxurious facilities and amenities.
So you get all the atmospheric feel of a grand Spanish country house, but none of the inconveniences that come with a historic property. Instead of creaking floors, draughty, ill-fitting windows and noisy plumbing, you just get just lots of modern amenities and luxe-y facilities.
Comfort and character: perfection.
Beautifully Manicured Formal Gardens
Hacienda Vistaverde is a place where the inside and outside seem to be locked in a battle to out-do one another.
And even if you’re particularly won over by the handsome house with its warm, honey-coloured walls and curved windows and doors adorned with wrought-iron balconies or its grand interiors, there’s no denying that the grounds here are at least their equal.
The formal gardens are studded with genuinely lovely spots. There’s a star-shaped fountain in the courtyard by the front door; a classical Italian garden with a lawned area and a decorative pool at its heart are fringed by low, beautifully manicured hedges. A smattering of ancient olives, gnarled and twisted, and cork trees provide a more rustic counterpoint.
The pool is a large walk-in affair. Surrounded by Moroccan lamps, it beckons you in for a late-night swim by flickering candlelight. Next to the pool, a shady pergola covers the house’s outdoor dining space, while a covered pool house has two very lounge-friendly seating areas flanking an outdoor fire.
The villa’s outdoor space is completed with an indoor/outdoor corner terrace. It’s the perfect spot for dining together on cooler evenings, as the shadows lengthen over the fairways of San Roque and the sun sets red against the mountains.

Enjoy the local area
San Roque is a small town between Jerez and Marbella and is just 15 minutes’ drive to glamourous Sotogrande.
Hacienda Vistaverde is located on San Roque Golf Course, it enjoys the climate and lifestyle of Cadiz province. Life here is low-key but high-quality, with luxury beach clubs and a yachting marina close by and unspoiled virgin beaches lined with sand dunes where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean.
Here in San Roque as with the rest of the Costa del Sol, while it may be at its liveliest during the summer months San Roque’s very much a year-round destination. The weather is superb, with an average of +300 days of sunshine per year and winter temperatures that rarely drop much below the high teens or early twenties celsius. Perfect for hosting the world’s best Golf and Equestrian sports which take place each year.
San Roque Club is one of the best Golf Country Clubs in Europe. Here, Hacienda Vistaverde sits in the foothills of Sierra Bermeja, alongside two championship golf courses in a pleasing Andalucian atmosphere.
Hacienda Vistaverde is also close to all that Sotogrande has to offer; the marina, Trocadero beach club and with easy access to world class La Reserva Golf and Valderrama Golf. Santa Maria Polo Club is just around the corner, where the summer months let you rub shoulders with the British Royalty and the world’s horse-loving elite at the polo.
If San Roque Golf Course isn’t enough, golfers have no less than five different other courses to choose from. La Cañada and La Almenara are both excellent and suitable for high to mid-handicappers, while La Reserva, the Real Club de Golf and world-famous championship course, Valderrama, are really best left for only the most accomplished golfers.
For the non-golfers in your group there is plenty to do, hire a yacht for a days sailing, visit local towns and villages, relax at La Reserva Resort or watch polo at the world-famous Santa Maria Polo Club.
Dining out can take place in the restaurants of Sotogrande marina, or in the village centres of San Roque, Pueblo Nuevo and Guadiaro. Or you might head to one of the chiringuitos along the beaches at either side of Sotogrande for a taste of fresh fish and a cool glass of Tinto del Verano.
Only 20 minutes’ drive away you can visit Gibraltar with British shopping, fascinating history and curious inhabitants of the rock.
For a more traditional Spanish vibe head inland a short distance to explore the delightful white village of the region of Jimena de la Frontera or the castle fortress town of Castellar de la Frontera which punctuate the awe-inspiring walking route along Mr Henderson’s Railway to Ronda.
For day trips a little further afield there is Marbella & Estepona, & beachlife at Tarifa & Costa de la Luz are less than an hour away. While Tangier in northern Morocco is a mere 45-minute ferry away – book one of our guides to show you the best of it with a door-to-door service.
San Roque is just 1 hour 17 minutes from Malaga airport.
