Surrounded by olive groves just 15-minutes from central Ronda, amenities include a full-size football pitch, soft water pool & fully equipped games room, guests of all ages will enjoy the space to roam, refresh and reconnect.
A sandy track marked by double gates leads you to your first glimpse of Villa Sofia. With 6 bedrooms and endless space, this handsome converted farmhouse gleams white amongst a sea of olive trees, with a craggy mountain peak as a backdrop.

Inviting family togetherness, a charming vine-covered pergola creates an idyllic spot for an al fresco breakfast or candlelit dinner… and this is just the beginning.
RUSTIC CHARM MEETS SCANDI-CHIC IN A STUNNING renovated FARMHOUSE
The entrance to Villa Sofia is marked by a traditional Andalucian courtyard with a water well, where brightly flowering bougainvillaea tumbles down white walls.
Pass through antique Ronda doors and you find yourself in a double height entrance hall, where an antique glass chandelier feels perfectly at home.
Bedrooms at Villa Sofia are a blend of gorgeous minimalism and statement design pieces, featuring sumptuous four poster beds, artisanal tables and woven rugs spread across original terracotta picket tiles which stay cool in summer and warm in winter.
This is Villa Sofia in a nutshell: all the charm of a rustic Spanish finca, teamed with thoughtful modern touches curated by stylish Swedish owners.
AN OASIS OF TRANQUILITY just MINUTES FROM THE VIBRANT STREETS OF RONDA
Villa Sofia’s outside spaces have been designed to maximise its enviable position surrounded by green Andalucian countryside.
The house is encircled by olive groves, on 23 private hectares which are patrolled by the property’s equine residents. Two rescue horses and a donkey can often be spotted dozing in the shade beneath the foliage or cropping at the grass between the trees.
The gardens are minimalistic yet impeccably maintained: gravel planters contain rows of young lavender bushes, carefully placed to nurture the estate’s thriving colony of honeybees. Orange and fig trees line the perimeters, and in springtime, a Wisteria arch explodes into a riot of vibrant flowers at the entrance to the villa.
The gorgeous soft-water infinity pool is encircled by sun beds, where one can doze in the morning sunshine, lulled by the ornamental waterfall above the pool.
Olive groves unfold in every direction, and the only sound to be heard from the terrace is the buzz of crickets and the soft trill of birdsong.
The perimeter of Villa Sofia’s land is marked by a mountain range, which you can hike to from the villa. Those tenacious enough to scale its peak will be rewarded with far-reaching views of the rugged landscapes below.
Villa Sofia’s spacious living room is located on the ground floor of the property. This airy space features a family-sized sofa and rustic coffee table, facing a widescreen TV.
A neutral colour palette of dove greys and faded linens creates a serene vibe, further enhanced by an abundance of natural light.
The beautiful terracotta floors are an original feature of the old farmhouse. Added warmth is created with chunky blankets and scattered cushions, while the open fireplace provides a cosy focal point on winter evenings.
Villa Sofia’s stunning farmhouse kitchen effortlessly combines original features with modern amenities, such as sleek Dekton countertops, a gas burning LOFRA aga, coffee machine, oven and wine fridge.
The open plan dining room features a family sized table, with seating for 12 provided in the form of a bespoke wooden bench and three wicker chairs.
Feeding directly off the kitchen, this is the perfect spot for long family lunches and relaxed dinners, especially with the doors flung open to the olive groves beyond.
For laid-back lunches, fire up the BBQ and dine on the covered terrace outside, fanned by a cool breeze blowing over the fields with the birdsong as a soundtrack.

For me, it was love at first sight with this dreamy Spanish farmhouse. From the moment I drove up the track cutting though the olive groves and saw the horses grazing beneath the trees I was sold!
As someone who grew up in the countryside and craves tranquillity, the location of Villa Sofia was idyllic. I love that all you can see from the gardens are fields and mountains, yet you’re only a short drive from central Ronda – which must be one of the most beautiful towns in the whole of Andalucía.
Villa Sofia itself is an enchanting property and its interiors are simply beautiful. I love the way the owner has chosen to keep the most striking original features – such as that antique chandelier in the entrance hall, or the gorgeous, carved wooden doors opening out onto the front courtyard – and blended these with contemporary pieces.
The textures of the soft furnishings – rattan, raw linen, natural wood – create a rustic vibe which at the same time exudes quiet luxury. Stunning!
I also adored the wisteria arch which forms a canopy over the outside dining area. It was in full bloom at the time I visited and was just magical – I can only imagine how beautiful it looks at night with the fairy lights twinkling overhead.
Surrounded by olive groves and almond trees and offering panoramic mountain views, this stunning rural estate provides a mere ten-minute drive from the iconic town of Ronda.
This family-owned villa has been designed with kids in mind – acres of outdoor space to explore and children are guaranteed to love the range of entertainment on offer, including an Astro-turf football pitch, private swimming pool, full-sized trampoline and games room complete with shuffleboard and table football.
Villa Sofia has been transformed from an old Spanish farmhouse in the heart of an equestrian estate with 23-hectares, into a 6-bedroom luxury villa with private pool & magnificent views over rolling hills.
Packed with characterful original details and reclaimed furnishings, this villa appeals to travellers who want to feel they are at one with the heart of Spain without any compromise on style and luxury.
Villa Sofia is located in the countryside a 15-minute drive beyond the town of Ronda in the Malaga province.
One of the oldest cities in Spain, Ronda – affectionately known as the City of Dreams, is steeped in time honoured history. A favourite hangout of Orson Welles and Ernest Hemingway.
If you crave the ‘real Spain’: to live like a local, with a full immersion into Andalucian culture, Ronda is the perfect destination – here’s more information in our Ronda guide.
A passion for tradition runs through the veins of every Rondeño (Ronda local), and reminders of its centuries old history can be found on every street corner and along the cobbled passageways of Ronda’s historic old quarter.
You’ll find numerous propositions to learn about the history and culture of Ronda, from the famous bullring to the old Arab baths, museums galore, flamenco history and a historical and cultural agenda, which competes against Spain’s largest cities.
The beauty of Ronda is that it’s encompassed by stunning countryside, and you can view the Serrania de Ronda from most points around town.
Ronda is renowned for its eco-gastronomic traditions. The Serrania de Ronda wine route unravels through the rugged landscape dotted with family-run boutique wineries where you can sit around a table eating lunch, tasting the wines and listening to the owners tell their story.
Within a short drive from Villa Sofia you can be visiting these award-winning wineries, cheese and olive producers. Or experiencing the dramatic scenery, and outdoor activities that Ronda is renowned for. Such as hiking, cycling, river walking and mountaineering.
Even the drive from Malaga to Ronda is spectacular (we highly recommend a day trip to Malaga city during your visit – see our Malaga guide). Leave behind Malaga airport and pass through the verdant green Guadalhorce Valley packed with citrus groves, before climbing higher up past the picture-postcard ‘pueblo blanco’ of Ardales, through silvery olive plantations, and finally to the pine trees and the foothills of Serrania de Ronda.
Villa Sofia is located around 85 kms (1 hour) from the beaches, golf courses and coastal towns of the Costa del Sol (San Pedro/Marbella) and 113 km (1hr 27 min) from Malaga airport and city.
There are various supermarkets around town, boutique shops selling local artisan crafts and clothing and handmade shoes.
Ronda is replete with restaurants and bars, from traditional stand-up tapas bar with traditional flamenco evenings, to Michelin-star fine dining.
