Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open from all main rooms to a sea-facing sundeck and show-stopping, heated infinity pool. The sunny terraces are quite the sight especially at sunset when the view over the sea and bay turns every hue of magenta.

From its elevated position, Villa Cielo offers a heady combination of soothing, minimalist interiors and views that will make your spirits soar. If ever a villa was deserving of its name, Villa Cielo (‘Cielo’ for ‘sky’, or ‘heaven’.) is it.
Floor-to-ceiling glass shows off the ever-present vistas, bathing the interiors in natural light.
Slide the doors open and the refined interior spaces blend seamlessly with the equally stylish terraces, where the heated infinity pool appears at one with the Mediterranean Sea.
The hand of a professional interior designer, guided by the owner’s sheer good taste, is visible throughout this villa.
On the main floor, the open concept kitchen, dining and living room flow easily into one another and out on to the terrace though the wall-to-wall glass doors.
A separate entertainment area on the lower level, which includes a gym with sea views, a table tennis table, home cinema and shady terrace, ensures there is space to spread out and find your Zen.
Bedrooms are all individually furnished and decorated in restful tones, with accent colours that complement the art that adorns the walls.
Layers of neutral tones and textures of polished concrete, hardwood and sumptuous soft fabrics, lend the interiors a contemporary edge. The luminous interior design enhances the sense of space and serenity, with a collection of modern art adding personality and colour.
A property designed for outdoor living, Villa Cielo’s west-facing terraces feature glass panelling, freeze-framing the vista from all three terraces.
On the main terrace, the pièce de résistance is the heated infinity pool which appears suspended over the valley, with Gandia Blasco sun beds lined up alongside it like ringside seats.
Different areas of the terrace are equipped for different purposes: a large dining table for meals outdoors, a high-top table for sun-downer cocktails, a wood-fired barbecue for casual dinners, and Inicitta armchairs for sitting out under the stars.
Automated, retractable shades cover much of the terrace ensuring there is always an escape from the direct sun if needed.
The open plan living, dining and kitchen are located on the ground floor, and open on to the main terrace. In the living room, a huge sectional sofa and additional seats provide seating for 10.
The living room is within view of the pool, terrace and kitchen, so you can keep an eye on your children, or retreat from the sun without feeling disconnected, while the cinema room on the lower ground floor provides another spot for relaxing.
Dine indoors or out at Villa Cielo. Inside, the oak dining table seats six to eight comfortably and is mirrored by a similar size table out on the terrace.
In the kitchen, high quality appliances are concealed by full-height matt black and natural wood cabinetry and there’s an island/breakfast bar with seating for three.
Caffeine-addicts will appreciate the coffee counter with Nespresso machine and milk frother, and for keen cooks there is an induction hob and ovens indoors, as well as an outdoor wood-fired barbecue right next to the kitchen – a hit with our private chefs.
There are three terrace areas; one off the principal bedroom on the top floor, another from the bedrooms on the lower gound floor and the main leisure terrace. The main terrace is ideally equipped for socialising and relaxing with an infinity pool with deep-cushioned loungers, dining area, a cluster of armchairs, shower and a high-top table for evening cocktails. A unique aspect of this villa is the automated retractable canopy to create shade over the terrace and pool – very useful for small children or if a respite from the sun is needed.
The outdoor dining table is perfect for meals al fresco, seating eight.
The infinity pool has a whirlpool function and is heated for year-round swimming, and downstairs there’s an impressive fitness room equipped with SportsTech machines and a table tennis table.
The additional terrace areas are shady with sea views and perfect for a little time-out.
Principal Bedroom 1: A super king size bed (180x200cm), large wardrobes and an en-suite bathroom with a shower room that looks out to the sea.
Occupying the top floor, with a wall of windows showing off the best views in the house, this is the property’s crowning glory.
Guest Bedroom 2: On the lower ground floor is the second principal suite, with an super king size bed (180x200cm) and doors opening onto a covered terrace.
Sliding doors lead to a dressing room with closet space, and the en-suite bathroom features a shower, striking black washbasins and plenty of storage.
Guest Bedroom 3: On the lower ground floor, this guest room features a king size (160x190cm) bed and glass doors that open onto the lower, covered terrace. Decorated in soft greys and blues that complement the black and white artwork on the walls, it is a calm, restful space.

Guest Bedroom 5: Beyond the kitchen, with direct access to the main terrace, this bedroom features a king size bed (160x190cm) and fitted wardrobes. The en-suite bathroom includes a walk-in shower, WC and single sink. This guest room’s blue and white colour scheme and hand painted wallpaper of corals lend it a definite sea theme.
Your rental includes six daily visits from the housekeeper to include laying-out and clearing away after breakfast, plus a linen and towel change twice a week. Additional housekeeping hours can be booked and paid for directly to cover things like after-meal clearing up, nightly turn-down, or personal laundry.
Your breakfast is included in the price of the rental and will be offered Monday to Friday, with assistance from your housekeeper to serve and clear away. A suggested menu will be provided before you travel so you can select options for the first few days, then your remaining days’ choices can be discussed with your housekeeper on arrival.

Villa Cielo is ideally positioned above La Herradura. Named for the bay’s horseshoe shape and famed for its sheltered beach and crystal clear waters, it’s a beautiful but less visited slice of Spain’s south coast on the Costa Tropical, named after its climate, the area is famed for its tropical fruit. With mango and avocado groves carpeting hillsides and villages. This stretch of coastline has a relaxed vibe, in-keeping with its under-the-radar appeal. And the towns are mostly low-rise, sitting aside pristine waters.
It’s approximately 30 minutes’ walk to several restaurants on the beach ‘Playa de la Herradura’, and a little further to small but picturesque marina in the other direction.
Taxis are available so some guests like to walk down, then take a cab back up.
Nestled between the Costa del Sol and Costa de Almeria, the Costa Tropical is Granada province’s coast. Different in feel to its neighbours, it has a rugged coastline, with scenic coves, rocky headlands, sand and pebble beaches, and several excellent restaurants.
From a white village perched on a rock (Salobreña), to unspoilt beaches( Playa Cañuelo), to incredible diving, nearby historical cities and even skiing in the Sierra Nevada. There’s plenty for you to see and do in the area. The diving from La Herradura is very good indeed. But if scuba diving isn’t your thing, the snorkelling is just as good. Hire a yacht or boat is a must to discover this coastline properly. A lot of the best beaches on the Costa Tropical can only be accessed by boat or kayak. The coastal road is a Mecca for cyclists, the region is great for road and mountain biking with routes (and e-bikes!) to suit all abilities.
The famed Andalucian cities are within a easy reach from La Herradura. A trip isn’t complete without a visit to the Alhambra in the city of Granada. When you’re done, head to the Moorish Albayzín district and watch the breath-taking sunset over the honey coloured fort.
Malaga city (just 50 minutes from the villa) is also worth exploring for its vibrant foodie scene and historic sights like the Gibralfaro castle and Alcazaba fortress.
