Ronda city is an easy 10 minute drive; stroll across the iconic Puente Nuevo Bridge over the Tajo Gorge; visit the oldest bull ring, the Moorish baths and palaces. Or head out into the country for a winery visit.
Set in an open landscape of pastoral fields and olive groves and a 10 minute drive to historic Ronda city, Villa Los Nogales is a pleasant countryside villa converted from a century-old walnut farm which pulses to the slow rhythm of rural Andalucia.
Peace and seclusion come in equal measure within this 14-acre estate. As you drive through the gate and along the driveway, Cypress trees to the left and open fields to the right, you get a sense of just how special Villa Los Nogales is going to be.
The gorgeous, enclosed courtyard to the front, the covered terraces that wrap around the house and the cool interiors are quintessential of the haciendas typical to inland Andalucia.
Villa Los Nogales is a rare example of how simple living can be elevated to sustainable luxury. Step through the antique double doors into a double-height hallway with cool terracotta tiles, thick white-washed walls keep the interiors cool during the summer months without the need for air-conditioning, while underfloor heating and roaring fires keep you cosy during autumn-winter stays.
The villa has been lovingly restored and curated by the owners with custom touches and sumptuous white soft furnishings and textiles working in perfect tandem with the villa’s original architecture. Books and Jazz CDs line the walls of the living room, and everywhere you look you find the owner’s quirky art and curiosities of the region.
Five first-floor bedrooms are the epitome of tranquillity with pastoral views to the gardens and countryside. The two newly-finished ground floor suites are completely private, located off the back veranda; one of which is fully wheelchair friendly.
IDYLLIC GROUNDS WITH A SECRET POOL GARDEN
The minute you walk into the front courtyard with its bubbling fountain you immediately sense the beauty of Villa Los Nogales.
This 14-acre estate is perfect if you want to kick back and spend your days relaxing outdoors. There are so many places to hide out or come together as a group, and it’s perfectly child-friendly with a manicured lawn for safe play, a sand pit on hand for toddlers and table tennis and table football for older kids and adults.
Covered terraces wrap around the villa, where you can while away the hours in the shade during hot summer days.
Follow the pathway surrounded by lavender and wild shrubbery to find the enchanting secret pool garden. A 15m solar heated pool takes centre stage with sun loungers and a double hammock for relaxation.
The palapa-covered summer dining room features a huge 10-seater circular table and there is a full outdoor kitchen and BBQ. On the far side of the pool, you can chill out in the shaded lounge area. And so that you don’t have to rush back to the villa, there is a cabana shower room with a dressing area and WC.
Further afield, there are paddocks: home to the estate’s Arabian/Spanish mix horses, and Perkins – the four year old donkey. The villa’s dedicated housekeeper will be happy to organise a horse riding activity* during your stay.
The main living area is located to the right of the entrance hall. Divided between sitting and dining spaces. To the left, a long rustic dining table seats 10 guests and to the right, a relaxing sitting room centred around a fireplace – we can imagine hunkering down in front of a crackling fire during an autumn-winter stay. The sitting room is furnished with three sumptuous sofas, a wall-mounted Smart TV and central coffee table.
There is a day bed towards the back of the room with a small screen TV, where children can cosy up and happily watch a film whilst the adults are enjoying a relaxed dinner. Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves are lined with DVDs and Jazz CDs.
Terrace doors on two sides lead out to the lateral and back covered veranda, where there is a further dining table and log storage.
Where to start? Indoors and outdoors, there are plenty of dining options at Villa Los Nogales.
The indoor dining area is open-plan to the sitting room with a 10-seater rustic wood dining table.
The pool garden is home to the summer dining room. Nestled under a Palapa-style roof with a cooling ceiling fan, there is a huge circular dining table for 10 guests and a full outdoor kitchen equipped with an oven, grill, sink, fridge/freezer and plenty of counter space for preparing food. A traditional circular charcoal BBQ is located at the rear of the pool garden.
The villa’s wrap-around covered terraces are also furnished with spaces to dine in the shade. The perfect spot for breakfast!
A further covered dining terrace is found in the pretty front courtyard with seating for eight guests. Further tables can be set up here for al fresco dining in a typical Andaluz setting.
Picture this evening scene: the courtyard lit up with candles, starry night sky above, the tinkling fountain and great friends and exquisite Ronda wine for company!
The farmhouse galley-style kitchen is equipped with two dishwashers, double gas stove top, two large range cookers, and three fridges.
It’s not about where to relax at Villa Los Nogales. From the moment you step out of the car, you feel the stress melt away. The villa is designed for guests who want to switch to ‘full relaxation mode’ and reset mind and body, ready to take on the world.
Spending the day by the pool is the perfect plan for relaxation. Take a refreshing dip in the 15m pool and then catch a few rays on a poolside sun lounger or perhaps an afternoon siesta on the double hammock. Will you share?
Or perhaps you want to spend a morning nurturing the soul with a yoga or meditation session on the lawn under the shade of a willow tree, or enjoy a family game of padel on the villa’s private court?
