Blending warmth, cosiness and homeliness with contemporary and chic interior styling is a difficult thing to achieve. But Casa Anneli absolutely nails it.
Its clean modern lines and monochrome design are softened with natural wood and a soft colour palette in the interior furnishings.
The whole house is on one level. The centre is a wonderful open-plan living room/kitchen/dining room with floor to ceiling windows on both sides, affording space and flow. These windows slide open towards the pool and garden and a chillout seating courtyard on the other side. They also allow light to flood into the house.
The bedrooms are split between two areas: one at each side of the house. This zoning is ideal for families. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and some have their own terraces. The bedrooms are softened with the use of natural wood and linen soft furnishings in calming colours. Great for friends to share, 4 of the bedrooms can be split into single beds.
For wheelchair users and those with limited mobility, there’s a ramp with direct access to the pool area from the entrance hall. There’s also an en-suite bathroom which is adapted for ease of use.
The high-end fixtures run throughout the bathrooms and kitchen.
On approach, the door from the street is unassuming and gives nothing away as to what lies behind. Once the door’s opened terracotta steps lead down a flower-filled staircase which hints at what Casa Anneli once was – a 1970s villa. But not anymore; it was completely modernised in 2018, and now this handsome design-led house is a modern family’s dream holiday base.
Picture window surrounds hang over the windows from three of the bedrooms to create contemporary seating – a place to relax and read.
The walled garden and pool area sits a stone’s throw away from the covered terrace at one side of the house. This covered terrace has a BBQ kitchen, dining area (seating 14) and relaxed comfy seating. Sitting at this dining table there are views across the neighbouring rooftops to the mountains.
The pool itself was built with both keen swimmers and small children in mind. There’s a shallow shelf for cooling off, or baby play; then, for the swimmers, full lengths can be swam in 1.5m depth. The pool is gently heated for your enjoyment.
To the other side of the house there’s more comfortable seating in a courtyard just off the indoor dining area.
Casa Anneli has been designed with socialising and coming together at mealtimes in mind.
The living areas are open plan. Each flows into each other so no one is stuck by themselves preparing food. But there’s also still space to escape to for quiet time if needed.
Inside, the kitchen is incorporated into the dining room which leads onto the living TV room around the corner with its open fire. The windows in this living area open to allow the flow of people between the covered terrace and pool area, making it one.
Back outside, steps (or the ramp) lead down to the sunbed-lined pool area. The surrounding lawn is perfect for playtime, and will be the centre of the action for smaller kids.
Casa Anneli has two places to eat both seating 14 people comfortably. The dining room and outdoor dining on the shady terrace next to the BBQ kitchen. If you like cooking over fire you’ll love this BBQ.
The kitchen has lovely engineered oak and matt black surfaces with nifty electronic techy features. There are two dishwashers, an induction cooker, two ovens, steamer and three fridge/freezers: two in the kitchen and one in the storage room. On top of these expected Bosch appliances, there are Vitomix and Nespresso machines.
Casa Anneli is set a little below road level, so upon entering the house or garden it feels detached and protected from the outside world.
This is a family’s beloved holiday home that they’re sharing with just a select few. As a result, it feels incredibly welcoming, with the artwork on the walls having been created by the owners and their family.
Outside, there are plenty of places to take the sun or rest in the shade as well as making the most of the pool to cool off or for a bit of exercise. It sits on a 2500m2 plot so there’s plenty of room for outside playtime for younger members of the group.

The gorgeous modern en-suite bathroom has a bath and shower, double sink and Likami toiletries.

Bedroom 4: This bedroom is to the side of the house with two long tilt and open windows. With twin 90x210cm beds. The en-suite bathroom has a single sink and shower.
Bedroom 5: Sitting to the front of the house this room has a beamed ceiling with doors opening to a patio area with two sunbeds. With twin 90x210cm beds. All bedrooms have A/C, underfloor heating, generous wardrobes, blackout curtains, TVs and homely design touches like linen throws, pillows and rugs. The en-suite bathroom has a single sink and shower.
Bedroom 6: This is next to the master bedroom, doors open to the front of the house where there is a patio with two sunbeds. With a 180x210cm super king size bed. All bedrooms have A/C, underfloor heating, generous wardrobes, blackout curtains, TVs and homely design touches like linen throws, pillows and rugs. The en-suite bathroom has a single sink and shower.
Bedroom 7: This room is wheelchair adapted and has access to the front of the house with a sun-seat in its patio. With twin 90x210cm beds. All bedrooms have A/C, underfloor heating, generous wardrobes, blackout curtains, TVs and homely design touches like linen throws, pillows and rugs. The en-suite bathroom has a double sink (one being lower) and shower.
Casa Anneli is serviced by a local villa management company who offer some light housekeeping 5 days a week (Monday – Friday) with a mid-week towel change and weekly linen change. They also attend to the pool and garden.
Housekeeping does not include kitchen clean-up or personal laundry. Additional hours may be requested to assist with after-meal clean up for example.

Casa Anneli sits in El Paraiso, overlooking the stunning hills and mountains that reach towards Estepona, and views that extend to Gibraltar and the coast of Africa. This is an upmarket leafy residential suburb of Estepona, though in reality you are closer to the chic beachside town of San Pedro with its newly developed family friendly boulevard and excellent restaurants
There are plenty of fantastic destination restaurants in Estepona and Marbella but there is also some local restaurants located five-minute walk from the villa, perfect for those evenings when you feel like staying closer to home.
The surrounding lanes are home to multi-million dollar mansions and chic apartments, so you are in very good company, and its never too far to pop out for a pint of milk.
Located a short way past Puerto Banus and San Pedro, this exclusive leafy suburb offers an exceptional standard of villa accommodation and is just a short drive from the buzz of the main resorts of the Costa del Sol.
If you fancy a walk, there are a couple of restaurants just a few minutes walk up the road, and the nearest commercial centre with more restaurants and a supermarket is about 1km away, which takes about 12 minutes. The nearest beach at 2km away takes about 20 minutes making use of the footbridge, but there are also many fantastic options within a 10 minute drive from the villa in either direction.
Further along the main road is the pretty resort of Estepona, or try heading inland to Benahavis Pueblo, known for its cluster of restaurants and chef training schools for the Costa del Sol, definitely worth exploring for an evening meal out.
