At the heart of the prestigious San Roque Golf Club, cocooned in a private cul-de-sac, lies Villa Atenea. Electric gates open to the impressive courtyard entrance of this generously proportioned 5 bedroom villa.
Villa Atenea is a family home of substance. Set over two floors, the luxuriously appointed villa is replete with art and unique details, and yet manages to stay welcoming and homely.
A choice of sumptuous living spaces, a chef grade kitchen and summer kitchen, en suite bedrooms on ground and first floors, and sublime lawned gardens and pool deck with giant chess – Villa Atenea is ideal for big family gatherings.
The owners have installed a fabulous art collection, where modern works from Bill Mack, Peter Lik, Armani and Versace sit harmoniously alongside classic wall frescoes, antiques and a magnificent Steinway piano.
Walk through the doors of Villa Atenea and you are greeted by an opulent hallway with a domed ceiling, wall frescos and sculptures. The spacious interiors are brimming with art. The collection includes works from Armani and Versace, as well as luxurious designer furnishing throughout.
The main hall features an impressive entrance out to the terrace, which works perfectly for celebrations, where guests can head straight to the garden and terraces.
To the left of the entrance hall is the kitchen and access to the one bedroom apartment. To the right, a luminous hallway with arched windows leads to a formal dining room for 10 guests, the ground floor living room with cathedral double-height ceiling and Steinway piano, the conservatory games room and principal bedroom with dressing room and sauna.
From the living room, stairs lead up to an impressive mezzanine sitting/TV lounge and three further en suite bedrooms all with access to golf-view terraces.
If your idea of the perfect Spanish holiday is whiling away your days outdoors, then Villa Atenea is for you.
Upstairs, the main terrace enjoys views to the golf course and each first floor bedroom has access to the terrace. Downstairs, the main terrace occupies the length of the villa and features a central lounge area and dining spaces on both sides.
The heavenly lawn wraps around the villa where your private putting green awaits. Younger guests will appreciate the goal posts, badminton set, tree swing and giant poolside chess.
The lower half of the garden is dedicated to poolside entertainment with a 20 metre soft water pool and designer double and single sun loungers. A hot tub complete with LED lighting, a circular al fresco dining area with an American-style BBQ and a double conservatory with gym and fully equipped kitchen completes the outdoor entertainment space.
Villa Atenea includes a separate one bedroom aparment, located on the ground floor with access from both the entrance courtyard and from the garage to the house. Its an ideal space for teenagers or staff who want their own space.

The main living room is located on the ground floor, divided into two sitting areas and features an impressive double height ceiling.

Stairs lead up to the mezzanine gallery sitting room furnished with an L-shaped leather sofa and coffee table in front of a working fireplace. A glass table seats four guests, and there is a further work space and wall-mounted TV.
The formal dining room can be found adjacent to the kitchen and features a long rustic dining table with seating for 10 guests. A central pendant lighting feature drops from the recessed ceiling and an antique side table with silver candelabra adds to the classic character of the room. Three walls of windows lend a luminosity and doors lead out to the terrace.
Outdoors, the main terrace features a dining area with seating for 8 guests plus a six-seater high bar. A further six seater dining area is found to the left of the terrace.
Head down to the pool where you’ll find both outdoor and conservatory dining with a fully equipped kitchen, and American and Argentine-style BBQs.
Poolside is the best spot for relaxing at Villa Atenea with its selection of designer single and double sun loungers, and divine hot tub with built-in bluetooth music plug. And if you get thirsty, the poolside kitchen features a drinks and ice fridge, so you can enjoy a cool coca-cola or chilled glass of cava.
Bedroom 1: Ground floor principal bedroom (80m2) furnished with a super-king 175 x 200cm bed and sofa, 2 bedside tables, an alcove breakfast table, wall-mounted TV and safety deposit box.
The bedroom features a little mezzanine area where a single child’s bed (90 x 190cm) can be added (on request) and a huge separate dressing area with plenty of wardrobe space and a central sofa. Doors lead out to a lateral terrace.

Your rental includes a complete clean and linen change every 7 days, plus additional light housekeeping in 2 visits during the week (housekeeping does not include kitchen clear-up). Additional housekeeping hours can be booked and paid for in advance to cover things like after-dinner clearing up or personal laundry.

Every booking includes around 3 hours of itinerary planning before you travel (more complex itineraries can be organised for a fee to cover extended hours). Villa Atenea is situated on the frontline of San Roque Golf Club with direct access to the fairways via the garden gate.
To practice, there is a private putting green within the villa grounds.
Real Club de Golf and Valderrama are an easy 15 minute drive from the villa.
With five double bedrooms, including one family room with twin beds and a separate one bedroom apartment, the villa easily accommodates 10+ guests.
Sotogrande is an ideal location for family and golf holidays with plenty to offer to keep multigenerational groups entertained. With its laid-back vibe, expansive views and wild and beautiful beaches, Sotogrande and the Cadiz province is perfect for guests who appreciate a more relaxed holiday.
Leisure time can be divided between the rolling golf fairways and pristine polo pitches that the area is renowned for, or why not spend a few hours strolling the colourful marina or relaxing in one of Sotogrande’s upmarket beach clubs?

La Reserva Club is in Sotogrande Alta near the La Reserva Golf Club House and just 15 minutes from Villa Atenea. This man-made lagoon beach complex is simply fabulous. There's waiter service, restaurant (with à la carte or buffet menus), valet service, 2.800m2 beach, huge water sport lagoon, beach lagoon and swimming pool.
The nightlife of Marbella and Estepona, and beach-life at Tarifa and Costa de la Luz are both an hour away, while Tangier in northern Morocco is a 45-minute ferry away – book one of our guides to show you the best of it with a door-to-door service.
Dining out can take place in the restaurants of the marina, So/ Sotogrande or in the village centres of Pueblo Nuevo and Guadiaro. Or you might head to one of the chiringuitos along the beaches on either side of Sotogrande for a taste of fresh fish and a cool glass of Tinto de Verano.
For a more Spanish vibe head inland a short distance to explore the delightful white village of Jimena de la Frontera or the castle fortress town of Castellar de la Frontera which punctuate the walking route along Mr Henderson’s Railway to Ronda.
