Welcome to Villa Santi

Far reaching views and unique design to soothe your soul

Step into Villa Santi and you’ll immediately feel yourself exhale. Its lofty position in the hills above Mijas Pueblo feels removed from the frenetic pace of everyday life, while the Buddhas, banana trees and Balinese aesthetic could almost make you feel you’ve arrived in Asia.

Sun-soaked tiered terraces festooned with green, leafy plants and plenty of comfortable cushioned loungers and daybeds, give Villa Santi a spa-like quality. It’s a place that invites you to rest and revitalise.

Wherever you look, indoors or out, there’s a handcrafted wooden seat, sofa, or bench that beckons you to sit down and soak up the views — because at this height you can see all the way from the Sierra de Mijas mountain range, across golf courses and down to the coast.

Balinese accents elevate the serenity

Built over three floors, each of which opens onto a terrace, Villa Santi’s interiors are bathed in natural light and filled with a palette of natural materials and vibrant plants that is instantly soothing.

Designed in collaboration with artistic & furnishing specialist, Sybartum, the clean lines and crisp white finish of modern Spanish architecture is balanced by the warm hardwood tones and the organic, imperfect forms of handcrafted furniture. Plenty of cushions, neutral colours and natural materials put the focus firmly on comfort.

Each bedroom has its own character, from the principal suite with its chunky furniture and the buddha that watches over you, to the guest room with an original stone fireplace and cosy seating area, and all open onto one or other terrace. Similarly, the living room spills out onto the shaded top terrace, effectively creating an indoor/outdoor living room.

All in all, Villa Santi is an invitation to enjoy the outdoors.

SPACES TO SOAK UP THE VIEWS, THE SUN AND THE STARS

With three expansive sunny terraces, the challenge at Villa Santi is choosing your chill-out spot. Will it be the wooden sun loungers, positioned at the very edge of the terrace for the best views in the house, or one of the oversize daybeds, shaded by a pretty white parasol? Or will you simply cool off in the pool?

The lawn is the ideal place for some morning sun salutations or meditation, and if you need a little alone time during the day, there’s always a bench or a seat tucked away out of sight.

To while away the days there is also a pool table on the terrace and a table tennis table by pool too.

Food always tastes better outdoors, so the dining terrace is used for most meals; a large Webber barbecue ensures that whoever is cooking need not lose precious holiday time indoors. After dinner, the hot tub offers no better place to sip a glass of wine and look down on the twinkling lights of the town below you.

Enjoy the local area

Villa Santi is located above the picturesque town of Mijas. Famed for its maze of cobbled alleys, colourful potted plants and whitewashed houses that stand against the green of the surrounding hills, it’s a quintessential ‘pueblo blanco’.

From the villa, it’s a 20 minute walk downhill to the town (you can easily take a taxi back). Once there, it’s a delightful place to stroll around – or for something different, take a ‘donkey-taxi’ – stopping to browse in little boutiques, and enjoying drinks and snacks in the outdoor cafes.

For golf enthusiasts, Mijas Golf features two 18-hole courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. Refurbished in 2012 but maintaining the original design, Los Lagos features gentle slopes, wide fairways, plenty of bunkers and nine lakes, while the smaller Los Olivos has less water hazards but plenty of trees.

Hikers will find numerous well-signposted trails that start behind Mijas villaga and climb into the Sierra de Mijas mountain range. These range from gentle one-hour circular routes to more challenging hikes that take you to the top of the 1150-metre high Pico de Mijas – from which you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views all the way to Morocco – or a full day hike that ends in Benalmadena.

At only 25 km away, the historic city of Malaga is well worth a day trip. Known as much for its food scene as its art, there is plenty to see and do here. It’s home to some fascinating historic sites, including a Roman amphitheatre, a Moorish palace and fort plus a 16th century cathedral. Take a stroll around the Soho district to see some vibrant street art, make time for a visit to the Ataranzas food market where you can pick up fresh produce and stop for tapas, and of course, the Picasso gallery is a must-see.

The closest airport to Mijas is Malaga airport, which is under half an hour’s drive away.

With its white houses, traditionally-barred windows and colourful pots filled with flowers, Mijas Pueblo retains its Spanish charm while remaining one of the most popular villages for tourists every year.

The Mediterranean sea can be enjoyed in Fuengirola, Benalmadena or Mijas Costa depending which direction takes your fancy. Playa La Cala, which stretches for 2km and has plenty of facilities and beach bars is an easy drive away. Families can enjoy beach activities, (boat and jet ski hire are available for the more adventurous amongst you) visit the local restaurants, or sample private beach clubs like Max Beach or Nikki Beach a little further along the coast.
