Villa Lumiere is a gleaming beacon of contemporary design set high above the coast in a peaceful residential area between Almuñecar and Salobreña on the Costa Tropical.
A labour of love by the present owners, who converted the former cottage into an exquisite, luminous villa. The design perfectly captures the idyllic Mediterranean views; all rooms face seawards, featuring floor-to-ceiling picture windows.
The accommodation seamlessly spills out to the upper and lower terraces with an al-fresco lounge and dining terrace, a peaceful zone for yoga and meditation, and of course, a private pool!
From the minute you step inside, your eyes are drawn to the exquisite view glimpsed from the double height stairwell. A view which will be exclusively yours during your stay at Villa Lumiere.
The entrance opens to the upper ground level where the four en suite bedrooms are located. The lower ground level is home to a full length, open-plan living, dining, and kitchen space, with a wall of windows that seamlessly open out to the terrace for the perfect indoor outdoor lifestyle.
Crisp white lines, nude concrete walls and herringbones-style ceramic flooring set the tone for the villa’s minimalist interiors; warmth enhanced by bold splashes of colourful furnishings, Jarapa natural rugs from the Alpujarras, and ‘Granadino’ artisan esparto grass sculptures and paintings by local artists.
SUNSET ‘SEA VIEW’ COCKTAILS
We can’t think of a better spot for sunset cocktails than the main terrace at Villa Lumiere which runs the whole length of the villa and is equipped with an impressive Weber Genesis gas BBQ, dining table to seat 8 guests and modular tub chairs.
Here you can enjoy a birds-eye view of the Mediterranean, or dinner under the starriest of night skies.
Down a flight of stairs to the pool terrace (the pool can be heated on request) with its sweet kidney-shaped pool, poolside sun loungers to dry off in the sun and a covered lounge area for an afternoon aperitif while you watch the kids happily play.
If you crave some peaceful headspace, or a sunrise yoga and meditation session, you’ll find the perfect spot in the secret Mediterranean garden just below the pool garden. Just don’t tell anyone!
The open-plan living, dining and kitchen space is a voyeur’s dream with full-length windows running the length of the room which perfectly frame the stunning views.
The pared down decor is designed to put the view front and centre of attention. Bare concrete walls and parquet-style ceramic tiles are complemented with muted tone sofas and armchairs, and of course the wonderful swing chair.
The lounge also features a wall-mounted smart TV and you’ll find toys, games and puzzles for the children, including Montessori toys.
Taking centre stage between the living and kitchen areas sits the gorgeous 10 seater 100% solid mango wood artisan dining table which is paired with modern perspex seats. For little guests, there is an ergonomic child’s dining chair complete with bamboo wood plates and BPA free cups, plus silverware for children.
The outdoor dining terrace is magnificent. Running the full length of the villa with those sea views and an eight seater dining table and impressive Weber gas BBQ.
Cooking is a dream at Villa Lumiere. The contemporary kitchen with its central island and breakfast bar features a host of cookware and appliances without being excessive. Equipment includes: Hyundai induction cooker and oven, Whirlpool fridge freezer, hidden washing machine, Nespresso, WMF cookware/silverware.
The ground floor pool terrace provides plenty of space for little ones to play, while you relax on one of the poolside sun loungers or under the covered lounge gazebo. The main level terrace is the perfect spot for sunset cocktails or to soak up the view with a morning coffee.

GETTING AROUND

Villa Lumiere is situated at the top of a quiet residential urbanisation. The road up to the villa is steep and we highly recommend car hire when booking a stay here. The nearest town with shopping facilities is Almuñeca (7.3 kms).
The pool terrace is situated down a flight of stairs (no lift to this level). Adult guests must accompany smaller children to the pool. There are sunbeds and a covered terrace so that you can relax while they play.
You can almost reach out and touch the Mediterranean from Villa Lumiere. And of course, there will be no squabbling over who gets which bedroom, as every room features a truly hypnotic sea view.
As the name suggests, the villa is filled with warmth and an extraordinary luminosity which works its way in from the sun kissed terraces to the beautifully finished interiors.
One of my favourite spots is the hidden Mediterranean shrubbery garden below the pool terrace. If I close my eyes, I can imagine myself in Lotus pose as the sun rises over the sea. Pure bliss!

It was beautiful. Better than the pictures as they don't capture the height of the floors in the kitchen and dining area. Exceptional welcome packs, great in person greeting. Frequent check ins and recommendations on where to go and what to do. Very frequent (we reduced them) cleaning and pool cleanings. And even had issues with my car and he took it personally to a body repair shop and vouched for the owner who done great work.
The place was excellent but honestly what put it over and above was the Host. Best I have dealt with.

The villa itself was nothing short of spectacular—beautiful, comfortable, and set in an idyllic location that made our stay incredibly relaxing and enjoyable. The owners, were exceptionally hospitable, always available, and went out of their way to ensure we had the best possible experience. Their attention to detail and genuine care for their guests were evident throughout our stay.
We made some wonderful memories during our time at Villa Lumiere, and we are already looking forward to the possibility of returning in the future. The concierge services were also top-notch and added to the overall luxury of our experience.

We stayed at the Villa Lumiere from Dec 23rd 2024 through Jan 1st 2025. Our experience at the Villa right from the minute we arrived at the gorgeous location to the very last second of our departure has been truly wonderful. The location of the villa and the panoramic views of the sea cannot be described in words. As we arrived at the villa (we drove from Malaga) we were greeted by our amazing host. She is phenomenal, a truly incredible host who made us feel at home right from the start. She gave us a tour of the property, showed us all the amenities the Villa has (which BTW is incredible for a family) and helped us ease in through our jet-lag. She had stocked the pantry, the fridge and even thought of all the things a young family would need on top of the items we had requested, so special! And if this wasn't enough, she helped us plan our outings in the local area and beyond. Also she assisted us with our Spanish, especially because I had a shellfish allergy and needed to explain when we were eating out! She was there for us, in a country where language is a barrier it is so comforting to know that you can reach out to someone and we were fortunate she was there for us!
We are also ever grateful to Rebecca from Luxury Villa Collection to help us book our outside excursions and tour guides. Truly wonderful experience with this, right from the Alhambra in Granada, to Ronda with the wine tour and the guided tour of the city to the beautiful Cordoba it was truly wonderful and stress free.
We celebrated the holidays in the wonderful villa, our Christmas morning was truly special with thoughtful gifts put under the tree by our amazing host! Our anniversary also fell in the week and she helped out with that planning as well, she had a curated list of restaurants and activities for us to do and we didn't have to look up anything at all! Our New years was another special evening celebrated with the locals in Salobrena. Loved the grape eating tradition. Memories that will last forever.
Now, for the Villa itself what can I say - all that you read in the description is 100% how it's described but its more magical in person. Every room in the Villa is tastefully done and the views are unbelievable. The beds and linens are very comfortable, just what you need after a long day of sightseeing. Bathrooms are clean and closets are stocked thoughtfully. The garden is very well taken care of and the fruit trees are magical. The pool area and the pool itself is very good and we had the best Christmas day lounging around the pool. The house has all the amenities of a modern kitchen which was very important to us as we like home cooked meals occasionally. And not to forget the sun rises and the sunsets visible from the villa. Each was special and unique. Our fave lounging spot was the balcony in the morning with a lovely cuppa coffee/tea.
I might have missed so many more things - all I have to say is that we have left a part of our heart in beautiful Spain - thanks to Villa Lumiere and our wonderful host and her family and to LVC.

Festive Season Family Holiday
Thank you Luxury Villa Collection for a perfect holiday at Villa Lumiere in Salobrena, Spain. We were a three generation group of 9 people, ages 9-76, who were looking for a beautiful serene setting for a week of relaxing, preparing delicious regionally sourced meals, and easy access to interesting excursions. The Luxury Villa Collection had several great choices of beautiful properties. You made the whole process of booking, paying, and arriving easy.
Our villa, Villa Lumiere, was perfect in every way. It was entirely as described if not more beautiful than its photos. The host was kind, warm, generous and gracious. We felt like special guests. We were celebrating a milestone anniversary and a gorgeous cake, champagne, and even a lovely gift were provided to mark the occasion. Everyone had a wonderful time.
The Luxury Villa Collection's Resort Concierge Manuela, was also wonderful. She took care of prearranged kitchen stocking and booked for us a spotless van with excellent driver for a spectacular day trip. She gave excellent advice about everything from places to go, where to park, and terrific restaurants and was quickly responsive.
So, in short, I’m entirely a fan of The Luxury Villa Collection and Villa Lumiere. Thank you so much for all you do.

We had a perfect multigenerational family vacation at Villa Lumiere! The property was more beautiful than even the gorgeous photos. It’s spacious and well designed and the owners have thought of and provided every amenity. The owner was warm, kind, and oh so helpful in giving us tips for things to do. We spent an unforgettable week at Villa Lumiere in June 2025 to celebrate my husband's milestone birthday with close friends, and it was everything we hoped for, and more! The villa is stunning - modern design, floor-to-ceilings sea views, beautiful ensuite bedrooms, and a pool terrace made for lazy afternoons and sunset cocktails.
From the moment we arrived, the villa owner welcomed us with warmth and care that set the tone for the entire stay. The owner was very attentive to all our questions and thoughtful throughout our stay, starting with a welcome basket filled with special treats to a birthday surprise later on in the week for my husband.
There was plenty to explore. We took day trips to Granada and Malaga, explored Salobrena, enjoyed local beaches, and had long relaxing mornings and evenings just in the villa. The setting was tranquil and peaceful, perfect for our downtime.
If you're looking for a place to mark something special or just spend time with family and friends, Villa Lumiere is one of those rare places where everything aligns - beauty, comfort, location, and wonderful owners. We look forward to going back!

Villa Lumiere is situated high above the Costa Tropical coastline in a quiet residential urbanisation which lies almost equidistant between the glittering seaside villages of Salobreña and Almuñecar.
This less visited slice of Spain’s southern coastline is a haven for those who seek a more laid-back and refined holiday location. Named after its year round warm climate, the area is famed for its sugar cane plantations and tropical fruit with mango and avocado groves carpeting the hillsides.
The idyllic coastline has a relaxed vibe, in-keeping with its under-the-radar appeal. And coastal towns are mostly low-rise fronted by sandy beaches and pristine waters.
The closest beach to Villa Lumiere is Playa Barranco del Medio, which is 1.1 kms away and the pretty bay of Cala Cambron is 3 kms away. There are no amenities on these neighbouring beaches, so you’ll need to pack picnics and plenty of water for a visit.
Head to nearby La Herradura, as well as Salobreña and Almuñecar for beaches with good facilities, restaurants and beach clubs to choose from. The closest supermarkets can be found in Alumuñecar (7.3 kms).
Almuñécar sits to the west of Villa Lumiere enjoying the stunning Sierra de Almijara mountains as a backdrop. The beachfront town boasts a mix of historical charm with its Roman ruins and mediaeval castle, and modern amenities with a vibrant beachfront promenade perfect for evening strolls before dinner.
Known as the Jewel of the Costa Tropical, Salobreña sits 8 kms to the east of Villa Lumiere. The picturesque coastal town clutches a huge rock with a Moorish castle overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The town exudes Andalusian charm with its whitewashed old town and Moorish castle.
With its central position on Granada’s coast, Villa Lumiere is an ideal villa for exploring Granada province and coastline.
Granada city with its famous Alhambra palace is a 55 minute drive away. If you are staying in winter, the Sierra Nevada ski resort is an hour’s drive away, and during the summer we highly recommend a trip to Maro beach (22 minutes) – often named one of Spain’s most beautiful beaches or Los Bermejales Reservoir (1hr 22 mins) where you can swim in the turquoise waters.
In the spring and autumn months, take a hike through the Parque Natural de Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama with some of the most scenic routes in Andalucía. Or perhaps just a gentle round of golf? Los Moriscos Golf Course in Motril is 10km from Villa Lumiere (13 mins drive) or the Salobreña Golf Course is 11 kms from Villa Lumiere (14 mins drive).
The closest airports to Villa Lumiere are Malaga airport: 94 kms (1hr 3mins) and Granada Airport: 82 kms (56 mins) which has limited international flights at certain times of the year.
