As private homes go, Villa Cristaux has to be among the most impressive I’ve seen. There’s no escaping the scale of this house: you feel almost small standing in the garden, looking up at a towering expanse of glass and stone.
A house this size could easily feel imposing. Yet somehow, Villa Cristaux strikes a delicate balance. Rather than cavernous or stark, the interiors are warm, inviting and understated, especially the bedrooms, with their generous beds, soft rugs and muted tones.
My favourite feature, though, has to be the spa. There’s something extraordinary about those glowing, backlit marble walls - the entire space is steeped in an almost meditative calm. I can just picture myself reclining here with soft music playing, completely switching off.
That serenity extends throughout the house and grounds. During my visit, I almost forgot we were just minutes from Marbella’s bustling Golden Mile - there’s no sound in the gardens but birdsong and the wind moving through the pines. Such peace and quiet is a rarity at this level of luxury in Marbella, but Villa Cristaux has certainly achieved it.
