For the winter, the formal living room located off the courtyard has a grand piano, dining table, desk and comfy seating round an open fire. There’s also a chess set and gramophone in this area.
In the principal suite/guest house, you have a second living room and dining room located on the ground floor, and this leads to the covered terrace at the rear of the house. The kitchen is off this dining room, and the principal suite is above this area on the first floor. There isn’t a door dividing the living space on the ground floor and the suite above.
To encourage complete disconnection, there’s no TV or speaker system onsite. But if a soundtrack to your holiday is a must, or you need to make the odd check-in to the outside world, there’s WiFi throughout the villa.
You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to dining. There are three main areas, all on the ground floor: the casual living/dining room, a formal dining room and al fresco on the terrace. Each table seats eight people, but they can be extended to 12.
The pool area is a stroll away from the house. Mixing full sun, shade, bathing and comfy, reclining seating it’s a space to spend the day, all the while looking over mountainous countryside views.
The chillout pool house is ideal for a lunchtime refreshment, and the whirlpool dipping pool is just the touch after travelling.
The view through the valley, down to the pretty village and onto the lake or snow-capped mountains is truly something to behold. This is the romance, the reason you stay here. Yes there’s a private pool, whirlpool, tennis court and six mini suites but none of this compares to the dazzling location.
