Welcome to Finca La Buena

Twin pools, terraced gardens, tennis courts and serenity, with a backdrop of Andalusian countryside

Your first glimpse of Finca La Buena’s grounds is of sun-dappled greenery: pergolas dripping with vines, manicured lawns stretching toward the mountains, and terracotta planters overflowing with colourful blooms. In stark contrast, the second thing you see is anything but new and fresh; it’s ancient: 10th century Moorish ruins, standing sentry over Finca La Buena.

Gorgeous stone walkways wind their way through the estate, meandering past 1,000-year-old irrigation streams and perfectly groomed plantings, to light-splashed daybeds and expansive terraces with a view. It’s understated elegance and rustic charm; the perfect Andalusian retreat to unwind, entertain, celebrate and relax.

The estate unrolls over 600 hectares of mountains, English-style country gardens, and indigenous Iberian woodland, criss-crossed by clear springs, mountains streams and the Guadalmina River. And as remarkable as is the view, the undeniable showpiece are the villa’s terraces and pools. Expansive patios, dotted with outdoor dining, shaded spots, and sun loungers, surround two pools: the main pool, 11 metres (37 feet) long and heated; and the guest house pool, 12 metres (40 feet) and unheated. In the summer, pergolas in bloom shade outdoor loungers, and frame unspoilt mountain and valley vistas.

Beyond the heli-pad, private tennis courts beckon a daily game or two. An organic vegetable garden tended by a Spanish farmer in a straw hat, the picture-perfect snapshot of life in Andalusia contributes to daily meals. Peaceful paths lead past scenic viewpoints and well-tended flower gardens. Serenity reigns.

The overarching theme at Finca La Buena is attention to detail. Care has been taken to make sure everything is just right, from the poolside WiFi and drinks fridge, to power sources available throughout the estate. Burbling fountains can be heard throughout the property. Cosy corners are perfectly arranged for both optimal comfort and perfect views.

Every detail assures you’ll never want to leave

Classic architecture, bespoke detailing, and antique finishes imbue La Buena with rustic luxury

Spectacular Mallorcan textiles, cosy open fireplaces, hand-painted tiles, beamed ceilings and other traditional detailing define this stately Spanish manor farmhouse

There are few homes in Andalusia as extensive and historic as the rustic Spanish manor farmhouse of Finca La Buena. Inhaling history and exhaling Andalusian charm, the spacious home opens onto beamed ceilings and Spanish antiques, delightful terraces and ancient flagstone flooring, warmed with years of love and use. This is the elegant and inspired touch of a much-loved family home that has welcomed generations of VIPs, Royalty, Lords and Ladies to holiday in the finest countryside Andalucia has to offer.

The main house sprawls over three levels, including the separate en-suite Tower Room and a two-bedroom apartment with private access from the courtyard. The southern Spanish sun streams in through wide windows and French doors, forever beckoning you outside to sunbathe or enjoy the shade of daybeds under vine-covered pergolas.

The master suite is the embodiment of a villa’s historic charm and rustic opulence. A private living area reveals Mallorcan textiles and Moroccan art on display, imbuing the room with warmth and colour. A large sofa and easy chair ring a cosy, open fire, and lead first to a reading corner stacked with books, and then into the elegant bedroom and en-suite bath.

The home’s original features peek out from every nook and corner: rich Mallorcan textiles, wall-mounted Spanish plates, cane-and-clay ceilings, incredible light fixtures, prized antique furnishings, vaulted beams, and hand-painted, antique tiling. If only walls could talk.

Three spacious suites of sumptuous furnishings and luxe, artisan bathrooms overlook Verdant hills

The darling guest house, drenched in Spanish blooms and romantic vines, is resplendent in Mallorcan fabrics, a white-washed paradise that blends modern comforts and traditional detailing.

As you take the two-minute walk from main house to the guest house, romanticism takes over. The twisting tendrils of rambling vines creep over the home’s white-washed exterior, somehow avoiding the dozens of oversized windows, their turquoise shutters flung open to allow breeze and light to stream in. The views stretch for miles. A sun terrace, with oversize daybed, beckons you to an afternoon read. A shimmering pool sits at your feet.

The idyllic setting doesn’t stop when you cross the threshold. The antique door opens onto three spacious en-suite bedrooms that reveal colourful Mallorcan fabrics and Spanish detailing, to set off creamy walls and soft linens. Large windows and doors open onto vine-covered terraces and balconies, where flowers blooms and panoramic vistas sweep past the terraced gardens and pool, down to the valleys and woodland-covered mountains below.

Every detail was considered for the guest house that has welcomed some of our favourite British Royals, and it shows. Breath-taking, bespoke Spanish handmade tiles adorn the bathrooms; stunning original artwork bedecks the walls; and gold-plated bathroom fittings add a touch of luxury to the understated elegance of the Finca La Buena. Don’t be surprised if it feels like you’ve awoken to paradise
