Set into stunning Ronda countryside just 10 minutes from the old town, Cortijo Alondra is a noble country estate that embodies the elegance and charm of classical Spain.
Fine and welcoming Andalusian grandeur with dedicated staff, a favourite of Spanish high society.
The experience begins the moment you enter Cortijo Alondra, passing through a magnificent antique studded cortijo door, and stepping into the large, sun-dappled courtyard patio – the focal point of the property, where beamed ceilings meet creeping vines, and teak seating neighbours a bubbling fountain. Walk through the hallway, a living exhibit of classic Spanish elegance, with its original panelled ceiling and Andalusian tiles still intact.
Finally, step into the cortijo itself.
Cortijo Alondra, the “sky lark” of Ronda – a nod to the dozens of wild birds and melodic birdsong found here – is a stately and traditional Andalusian estate set into a vast, private and fenced property. Here, lush lawns and manicured tropical gardens unfold onto wild and beautiful forest, where groomed trails mark the only sign of civilisation.
But the cortijo – that’s all modern civilisation, fine art, and classical elegance. This is a home of refined detailing and prised art, of polished woods and beamed ceilings, of terracotta floors and handcrafted antique furniture. Of old-world everything, modernised for the 21st century.
Ideally suited to two large families traveling together, or to two multigenerational family groups who desire both time together and private moments, Cortijo Alondra offers twin halves: two sets of bedrooms, two living areas, and two kitchens. Everything, completely classical and yet utterly luxurious – a Spanish home of old, with the amenities of a modern and lavish villa.
A noble home that is at once traditional and yet utterly luxurious
Grandeur and tradition, luxury and elegance – these are the cornerstones of Cortijo Alondra.
Yet at the same time you will find it to be a welcoming family home, with a team of smiley staff to keep things tip-top, and the most beautiful Andalucian scenery.
Hidden away in 15 hectares (37 acres) of holm oak and poplar trees, of total privacy and truly classical Spain, sits a noble home that is at once traditional and yet utterly luxurious. A home that is deeply rooted in Spanish architecture, art and tradition. A home of meandering trails and brilliant sunsets, of precious antiques and a refreshing swimming pool.
A home where you may be greeted by gentle Spanish guitar music and a babbling fountain, by warbling birdsong and the tranquil stillness of the countryside. A classical, tasteful estate worthy of the Spanish high society who are regular guests.
The property has a dedicated staff offering a daily housekeeping service, breakfast laid out, a gardener to tend the grounds, and a house manager to coordinate chefs and other details.
Your villa has a small team of staff who work full time at the villa who will provide a daily clean (usually 6 days a week) as well as a full linen change at least every 7 days. They also attend the pool and garden.
Additional housekeeping duties can be booked and paid for directly to cover evening work such as after-dinner clearing up, or personal laundry and ironing which is not included in the normal duties.

The formal living room is a noble and classical affair, both comfortable and welcoming, but also of very high quality. This living area offers double-height vaulted ceilings, traditional terracotta floors, and characterful details. William Morris print curtains deck the walls and sumptuous fabrics cover the furnishings, which include two three-seater sofas and sunflower-yellow chairs. The living room centres around a stunning, handcrafted fireplace.
The relaxation mezzanine overlooking the living room is a cosy nook with a reading area, games and cards.
The formal living room opens onto the conservatory, where a second informal living area looks out onto the grounds and offers comfortable seating on cream-coloured sofas.
The second half of the cortijo offers a large living-dining space, with oversized white sofas, an open fireplace, a large dining table, and trophy cabinets filled with racing awards. The drinks cabinet is compliments of the house and this space can also be reconfigured to accommodate meetings or events.
The formal dining area offers seating for up to 16, at a stately antique table and supplemental tables. Décor is elegant and traditional, and focuses around an elegant tapestry, silver candelabras, and various works of art. The second part of the cortijo has a large living-dining area that seats 20.
Cortijo Alondra offers two traditionally styled kitchens, one on each side of the estate. They offer large American-style refrigerators, coffee and tea stations, gas cookers, range ovens and dishwashers. Complimentary drinks are replenished daily.
Both kitchens are fitted with dining tables perfect for children’s tea or your morning breakfast. You may also take breakfast in the summer room or on one of the garden patios. A Spanish breakfast is served daily (included), and offers a feast of pastries, toast, fruits, and cured meats.
Both kitchens are equipped for professional catering (ask to see the menus available from the estate chefs) and can accommodate large events and families. Shopping service is offered pre-arrival.
Cortijo Alondra offers solace and respite – total relaxation, completely away from it all. Curl up on one of the sofas – you’ll have your pick of indoor or outdoor seating – and relax with a book and the view. Explore the film and music library.
Pour yourself a drink from the complimentary drinks cabinet and vintage train-wagon seats. Enjoy the sun streaming into the courtyard. Put on some music; Bose systems are located around the property.
If you’re feeling a bit more ambitious, head out to the main terrace, where you’ll find luxury lounge furniture that seats 8. The lounge overlooks the 8×4-metre pool and sunbathing terrace, as well as a vine-covered pergola and lawned gardens, with mature tropical plantings.
The gardens offer space for yoga and exercise. Just beyond the gardens, fenced woodlands offer walking/jogging paths to explore. Bicycles are available for guest use.

Cortijo Alondra is located on a large private estate in the countryside, this means that at certain times of year its possible that wild boars can come close to the property, making the use of the garden-side terrace inadvisable after dark.
They do not usually pose any danger if left alone and the staff is on hand each day to advise you should there be any activity of the animals during your stay. The main patio will still be available as normal.
Cortijo Alondra is exactly my idea of heaven for enjoying a good dose of Real Spain! Tucked away amidst acres of fenced woodland and rolling hills, it’s hard to believe you are only 10 minutes from my favourite Andalucian town of Ronda.
If I was organising a gathering of my closest friends and family, where good food and wine, Spanish culture and music played a very big part, I would certainly bring them here to this beautiful part of inland Andalusia

Guest Feedback
We fell in love with everyone and the Villa and Spain.
You first of all made any moments of stress disappear, but your handling of each day and me were exceptional. I can’t say enough.
The Villa and the staff went way beyond any of our expectations, I have nothing but amazing things to say.
Cortijo Alondra runs as a private hotel, where guests enjoy a daily breakfast service, housekeeping and other meals prepared on request. Bedrooms and bathrooms are finished like a boutique hotel complete with refreshments and luxury amenities.
The Character Collection
Cortijo Alondra is just the most fabulous place for groups of friends and extended families to come together and spend happy times while immersing themselves completely in the ‘Real Andalucia’.
Oozing with character features and Spanish antiques, 10 bedrooms split across two complete properties, there’s plenty of room for two or three families to share, but with so many salons, patios and quiet corners, you will never be under each other’s feet!
Ronda is an atmospheric and ancient city that has charmed visitors and artists for years
Cortijo Alondra is located on a massive private estate surrounded by sublime Spanish countryside. The old white town of Ronda is just a few minutes drive away so you can enjoy shopping, food and culture close by, and in just over an hour you can be on the sunny beaches of the Costa del Sol. This luxury estate offers a rural escape like nothing you will find on the coast.
The house is surrounded by green, rolling hills and wonderful views. Known as the birthplace of bull-fighting, Ronda is an atmospheric and ancient city that has charmed visitors and artists for years.
There are marked walking paths around the private estate and quad bikes to hire, but having a hire car will also be handy to visit the nearest shops and restaurants. Taxi’s are readily available too and staff can assist at any time.
Ronda is at the very heart of the famous “route of the white villages”, surrounded by nature, colour, rivers and mountains. Almond trees, oaks, olive trees and Mediterranean maquis surround this private estate, with paths for walking, cycling or climbing to contemplate the nearby mountains.
Come in April and May for a riot of spring colour, with purple and yellow fields bordered by bright red poppies. Or come in September to enjoy the grape harvest and annual ‘Feria Goyesca’ which is a magnificent even celebrating Ronda’s unique heritage.
